AT&T Celebrates LGBT Pride with ‘Live Proud’ Campaign

Dear Friends:

AT&T has a long standing commitment to LGBT equality and empowerment. Starting in 1975, AT&T became one of the first Fortune 500 companies to adopt a non-discrimination policy toward sexual orientation, and in 1998, one of the first to adopt domestic partner benefits for LGBT employees.

AT&T also has the first LGBT employee resource group in corporate America. Founded by employees in 1987, the LEAGUE at AT&T — the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Allies Organization — is one of the company’s 11 employee resource groups aimed at networking, collaboration and professional development.

Since then, we have continued to provide benefits and unique programs for LGBT employees. We are proud to be consistently listed in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s “Best Places to Work” for LGBT employees. Our dedication to supporting LGBT employees hallmarks the inclusive and diverse culture fostered at AT&T.

In celebration of LGBT Pride Month, AT&T launched the second annual “Live Proud” campaign that is centered on awareness, empowerment and, most importantly, pride. The “Live Proud” campaign will cross the nation this summer as we celebrate in cities across the country, including New York where we will be celebrating Pride June 27-29. The festivities will culminate in our League members, employees and friends marching together in the parade on Sunday, June 29th.

Also for the second year in a row and as part of “Live Proud”, AT&T is teaming up with LGBT advocate and world-renowned performer Adam Lambert to encourage the LGBT community and beyond to create unique memes that represents how they “Live Proud” and share those memes via social media.

Among the memes submitted and shared via Facebook and/or Twitter, four lucky winners will be chosen at random for a chance to meet Adam at a private event in New York City. One lucky “Grand Prize” winner will be selected to attend the private event, in addition to spending one-on-one time with Adam prior to the event. An additional five winners will receive an AT&T technology prize package.

From now through Aug. 10, we encourage you to join the movement in the following ways:

"Like” the AT&T Live Proud Facebook page by visiting att.com/liveproud.
Submit a unique meme that represents an AT&T “Live Proud” moment.
Share your meme with others online, using the hashtag #ATTLiveProud — and be sure to tag @ATTNYC or @adamlambert

Learn more about how we “Live Proud” straight from Adam Lambert in the blog post he wrote following the announcement of this year’s campaign.

I hope to see you celebrating Pride this month online and on the streets!

Sincerely,

Marissa Shorenstein
New York State President, AT&T
