MCC Testimonial: InaJiffy.com Connects 2 MCC members to do business

MCC has partnered with MCC member InAJiffy to help our members find business opportunities. InaJiffy is an online platform that connects businesses. Recently, a member found a fellow member to handle PR for his firm by using the service. Here's what he said:

"For months I was trying to find a publicist to help me promote my book. When I interviewed InAJiffy’s founder, Rohit Sood, on the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce radio show, The Voice of Manhattan Business, I thought it only right that I try the service. Within a matter of hours I received a proposal from a seasoned professional that was just what I had been looking for in terms of both services offered and price. I met with the publicist a day or so after receiving the proposal and was happy to accept it. I will certainly use InAJiffy in the future."

Progressive Computing, Inc. Announces New Addition to Tech Team

Jose Rodriguez brings experience, vision and focus on exceptional service

Westchester County, NY (August 8, 2012)

Progressive Computing, Inc., (PCI) a computer consulting and network installation, design and maintenance firm, announces the addition of Technical Advisor Jose Rodriguez to their team. PCI now has a total of 10 professional technicians serving clients in Westchester and Manhattan.

A six-year veteran of the IT industry and a graduate of the ASA Institute in New York City, Rodriguez formerly worked at Health Insurance Plan of NY (now Emblem Health) and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. At PCI, he provides clients with technical support and repairs for Windows-based PCs and laptops, and administration of servers. Rodriguez believes that helping customers understand the issues and opportunities related to technology is paramount to finding the right solutions in a timely and affordable manner, and often uses analogies and hand-drawn pictures to simplify explanations.

"Our clients are mostly non-technical, so we place a high value on the capability of our team members to speak to end users in human terms," explained Robert Cioffi, Managing Partner for Progressive Computing. "Jose showed us great promise that he can simultaneously focus on the issue at hand while balancing the end-user concerns. He’s an excellent member of our growing team."

Inspired by the movie "Swordfish" to pursue a career in IT and the thrill of building his own computer at the age of 16, Rodriguez consistently strives to enhance his skills and keep up with the latest trends and developments in the industry. Looking forward, he sees opportunity for PCI clients, especially related to transitions from desktop to mobile computing and from on-site to Cloud storage.

"I look forward to working with our clients to capitalize on technological advances in order to improve and simplify their business processes and increase their competitive position in the marketplace," says Rodriguez. "We are partners in progress."

PCI plans for the remainder of 2012 include expansion into new and improved office space, and an upgrade in service offerings. For the time being, contact Progressive Computing, Inc. via the following outlets:

IWEC Award Winner News: SoundSense, LLC has been awarded one of

Here is news about past IWEC award winner SoundSense, LLC:

SoundSense, LLC has been awarded one of Commercial Integrator's 2012 BEST Awards at InfoComm

LAS VEGAS– June 2012

On June 13, 2012, EH Publishing announced the "SoundSense Hi Hat Muffler" as a winner in the category of "Acoustical Treatments" in Commercial Integrator's new CI Solutions Awards. The award recognize stand-out, problem-solving installations that address commercial customer's needs in a variety of vertical markets including: Corporate, Health Care, Retail, Houses of Worship, Government and more.

Recessed lighting is an acoustic concern, creating a void in the ceiling configuration allowing sound to easily transmit between floors. The "SoundSense Hi Hat Muffler" significantly reduces sound transmission by enclosing the recessed can lights with a Class A fire rated material to deaden sound without restricting airflow. The Hi Hat Muffler was patented early in 2012 and will be released for retail sales in September of 2012.

Entries were received in seven categories and winners were chosen by the Commercial Integrator editorial and art staffs. Judging criteria included all aspects involved in system solution, such as project creativity, innovation, equipment incorporated, obstacles overcome, client's priorities met, aesthetic and benefits.

The winners for the 2012 CI Best Awards will be featured in Commercial Integrator's July issue and at www.commercialintegtator.com.

SoundSense was formed from South Fork Technological Consultants by Dr. Schnitta in 1990 to offer turnkey services to clients with noise and sound enhancement issues. SoundSense, headquartered in East Hampton, NY, is an acoustical consulting company specializing in acoustic design, acoustic material sales, and installation. The mission of Bonnie Schnitta is: “to make this a quieter world where we are not disturbed by noise, as well as a world where we can hear each other better.”

Important Alert Regarding Membership Dues Invoices

It has come to our attention that there is a "Chamber of Commerce of Times Square" mailing membership dues invoices to companies in and around Times Square and in some cases using the "Times Square Alliance" on their paperwork. This is not an initiative of the Times Square Alliance nor is it a bill from MCC. This is coming from "an organization" with a virtual office here in the Times Square area, using the address of 1501 Broadway.

The invoices are apparently being mailed from Brockton MA or other locations and are for membership dues, as noted.
There is also a federal tax ID number on the invoice which does not seem to be a registered number. Complaints have been registered with the NYPD, Post Office, Better Business Bureau, NYC Dept. of Consumer Affairs and NY Attorney General's office.

We are alerting you to this and encourage you to never pay invoices unless you double check them - from chambers or other organizations to make sure they are legitimate.
Should you have any questions or if you received one of these invoices, please feel free to contact us at 212-473-7875 or send an email to np@manhattancc.org.

Looking for a Few Good Companies: Call for Nominations & Applications

Here is an opportunity sent to us by Inner City CEO Insights:

ICIC is now accepting nominations and applications for both its Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC) and Inner City 100 programs. Urban businesses that are seeking access to growth capital are encouraged to apply for ICCC, which educates investment-ready companies about sources of growth capital and matches them with potential investors. Approximately 300 businesses have participated in the free program, 94 of which have collectively raised over $406 million in capital.

Businesses that are experiencing substantial revenue growth should apply for the Inner City 100 program. The Inner City 100 recognizes the fastest-growing businesses in urban America and supports their further growth through access to year-round executive education, networking opportunities and national visibility. Since the program’s inception, 720 unique firms have earned positions on the annual list, collectively generating more than $2.1 billion in annual sales.
